Editor's responsibilities:

  • The editors are responsible for the selection and publication process of the articles.
  • Publishers should be impartial in the selection of peer reviewers.
  • Publishers must adopt editorial policies that promote transparency.
  • The editors should keep the authors informed about the selection process and of the results of the reviews.
  • The editors must protect the integrity of the documents and make the necessary corrections and retractions.
  • Publishers should encourage good editorial practices.
  • The editors must provide all the necessary information to the reviewers and authors so that they can carry out their work successfully.
  • Publishers must have clear procedures to resolve conflicts of interest.
  • Editors must verify the authorship of papers and reject those indicating plagiarism, wrongful citation, data falsification or any other bad practice.
  • Editors should promote the exchange of ideas, the respect of opinions and guarantee freedom of expression during the call for papers, selection, evaluation and publication stages.
  • Editors should revise that papers do not contain false information, defamation or libel declarations against an individual, group of individuals or organizations. Any statement, in this sense, should be submitted to the University’s Legal Office for verification.

Author’s responsibilities:

  • Research must be conducted in compliance with ethical standards and legislation related to the responsible handling of copyright.
  • Researchers must present their results clearly, honestly and without falsification or inadequate data manipulation.
  • Researchers must comply with the publication requirements requested by the journal guaranteeing its originality, no simultaneous publication in other academic journal and avoiding plagiarism.
  • Authors should assume the responsibility for the results and data presented and published.
  • Authorship must accurately reflect the contributions of the parties involved.
  • Sources of financing and relevant conflicts of interest must be included in the document’s first footnote.

Peer Review Process:

The Journal will implement a content review procedure by selecting a group of peers who will verify the academic and scientific quality of the articles submitted for their consideration.

The Journal instructs peer reviewers to pay attention to and notify bad practices. It also informs reviewers of the guidelines on conflicts of interest issued by Colciencias.

Instructions on how to complete and submit a review are included in the evaluation form and in the email of request.

Editorial Committee:

The Editorial Committee is the governing body of the Journal. The members of this Committee will be recognized experts in the area of ​​knowledge of the Journal and will know in detail the procedures of good practices that promote academic publications.

Anti-plagiarism Policy

The journal verifies the originality of the texts received using the Turnitin verification tool. By submitting an article, the author agrees to have the document examined in order to avoid plagiarism and thus promote academic integrity.

 The Editorial Committee will take all reasonable measures to identify and prevent the publication of articles where a bad practice has occurred such as plagiarism, wrongful citation, falsification of data, among others. If plagiarism or any other bad practice is found, the article will be rejected outright. If the plagiarism is discovered after the publication, a retraction or correction will take place.

Readers are invited to report any plagiarism to the editor´s email address.

Once the possible existence of a bad practice has been verified, the inclusion of the writing in the Journal’s editorial procedure is suspended. In order to guarantee the author’s right to respond to the allegation, the author will be informed. The term for submitting any observation is 10 business days. In the absence of a response or, after receiving the author’s explanations, the editor should decide the outcome. The editor’s decision is appealable before the Journal’s Editorial Committee.

 Copyright

The Journal requires that authors authorize, through a license to use, the publication, reproduction, distribution and public communication of the article, both in physical or digital form, for exclusively scientific, cultural, dissemination and non-profit.

The authors retain copyright and guarantee the Journal the right to be the first publication of the work, which will be licensed with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike.

The reproduction of documents in other print and /or electronic media must include an acknowledgment of the authorship of the work and its initial publication, as stipulated in the license.

Contact Information

 The Journal will make available to the public the names of the members of the Editorial Committee and the contact information of the editorial team.

 Any irregularity related to editorial practices to which the Journal is committed may be reported to the editor’s email address.

Ownership and Management

The Journal is financed with internal resources from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, and will publish this information on its website.

Website

The Journal’s editorial team will ensure that the content hosted on its website has the highest ethical and professional standards. It will not include information that leads to error in its readers and/or authors. The aim and scope of the journal is detailed in its website, as well as its target audience.

In the author’s information section, it is expressly stated that the research content is subject to evaluation by academic peers.

The website will not include information that leads its readers and / or authors to error.

Journal’s name

The Journal’s name will be included in a visible place on the website and should not cause confusion between the authors and readers. It will include the ISSN and all the necessary information, so that it is not mistaken for other publications.

Interest of Conflict

The Journal will use the official documents issued by Colciencias as a guide for conflict of interest. It will use this guide to avoid possible conflicts of interest that may arise between the editors, authors and peer reviewers.

Open access

Open access to the Journal contents will be privileged, using the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license.

The Journal can be consulted and its content downloaded freely. The subscription to the Journal does not generates charges or fees of any kind.

Processing fees

There are no processing fees for authors or submission charges for publishing in the Journal.

Publication schedule

The Journal will include on its Website the call for papers for future issues and its annual editorial process schedule.

Archive

The Journal will have an electronic backup for the preservation of all editorial content.

Confidentiality

All necessary measures will be implemented to ensure that the contents of the articles are confidential throughout the process of publication. The editor will maintain the confidentiality of the articles submitted to the peer review process and will not disclose any information to third parties.

Ethics committee

 If necessary, the editor or members of the Editorial Committee may request the concept of the Ethics Committee of the University Externado.
