Resumen
A los veinte años de la adopción de la Directiva 2004/48/CE, relativa al respeto de los derechos de propiedad intelectual, el presente artículo hace un examen de su contenido, encuadrándolo en su contexto internacional, y analiza críticamente si su adopción fue adecuada para combatir los fenómenos de la piratería y la falsificación en Europa, haciendo mención de una de sus (inesperadas) consecuencias: la creación del Observatorio Europeo de las Vulneraciones de los Derechos de Propiedad Intelectual.
