Abstract

The multilateral system of international trade, led by the World Trade Organization, has been in charge of regulating commercial operations when these transactions cross the different borders, through a regulatory framework composed of the multiple agreements signed by the member countries. However, in recent years there have been certain events that have demonstrated the necessity for a regime transformation. It has generated a belief about the end of the Organization and, even worse, the multilateralism disappearance. Despite the above, there is still a wide recognition of the benefits that the multilateral framework in charge of the WTO produces for international trade, which is why the work must be towards strengthening the system and invigorating its regulatory structure.
